The competition was held for the first time in 2022 and for the second time in 2023. For more details, see https://www.gi-goes-business.eu/

Against the backdrop of climate change, the aim of the competition is to support innovative ideas, products and services for a green economy in the Alpine macro-region, thus promoting the sustainable development of the Alpine region and mitigating climate change. In this third edition, the topic of natural water retention, water management in rural and urban areas, water management under changing climate conditions and “wise use of water" is of particular interest.

The "GI goes business award" competition is part of the approved work program of Action Group 7 of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region for the period 2023-2025, which addresses ecological connectivity and green infrastructure. Action Group 7 is led by the Soča Valley Development Development Centre and ANCI Liguria.
