The Macro-regional Civil Meeting for the EUSALP, held on May 2 and 3, 2024 in Lyon, was organized by the European House of Budapest and Maison des Européens.  The focus of the meeting was civil society within the Alpine Macro-region. On Thursday, May 2, the event commemorated the 20th anniversary of the major EU enlargement in 2004. The Lyon City Hall, in collaboration with the Maison des Européens de Lyon and European House of Budapest designed a program that included a street action in the Lyon City Hall´s Atrium.  During this action citizens had the opportunity to explore, exchange or discover the EU related topics.  The day concluded with an Evening Reception titled “20 Years of Enlargement, 20 Years together”, which brought together a panel of four guests: Nicolas Resseguier, Robert Soltyk, Emese Barabas, and Christine Ramel. On Friday, May 3, the program featured a presentation on EU macro-regions by Emese Barabas, followed by a presentation titled This is where we are which assessed the state of youth participation in macro-regional structures.  In the afternoon participants were divided into 3 different working groups and their ideas were subsequently collected for further actions planned throughout the year. The ultimate goal is to establish a network of civil society organisations with all four Macro-Regional Strategies (MRS).
