#EUSALPYOUTH : internal meeting in Salzburg !

News

The members of the EUSALP youth council organized their internal meeting in Salzburg on the weekend of May 9-11, 2025.

These in-person meetings are important for the dynamics of the youth council. They allow young people to be able to discuss and work on their projects but also to strengthen group cohesion and the mutual understanding of members.

The weekend program was busy with activities planned from Friday evening until Sunday.

The organization of this weekend will benefit from the financial support of the Austrian/Liechtenstein EUSALP co-presidency and the member regions of the strategy, in order to provide the members of the youth council with a qualitative working environment but also to cover their travel costs.

Here is a summary of the weekend program:

All participants arrived in Salzburg by train from the four corners of the Alps on Friday afternoon.

We started the weekend with a Media production activity to create content for our social networks. The young people answered questions about their commitment and EUSALP.

In the evening we took a stroll around the city and found a traditional restaurant for our first meal together of the weekend.

The presidency had reserved a working room so that we could move forward on our projects in comfortable conditions.  We started the day at 9 a.m. and we dealt with different topics related to the activities of the youth council.

First of all, a member of the youth council who had participated in the pitch your project competition presented us with the progress of his project with the Legambiente association. This project was a finalist in the 2024 edition of Pitch Your Project and continues to develop.

Then we took stock of the preparation of the 2025 team building organized in the Austrian region of Tyrol. We went through the program proposed by the Austrian and Liechtenstein Co- Presidency in order to validate it with the members of the youth council and to provide our comments. This event, which will take place in July, will mark the beginning and welcome of the next members of the youth council for the next year.

The next point was to discuss the recruitment procedure that is underway in order to update the members of the youth council so that it can distribute the call for applications in the regions where we have the least candidates. We took the opportunity to re-explain how the random selection system works which makes it possible to select 28 members of the youth council each year.

To end the morning we prepared the workshop on youth participation that the members of the EUSALP youth council were going to organize for the 25th anniversary of the Interreg Alpine Space program.

After these three times of efficient work, we took a picnic in the city center of Salzburg and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Mirabel Park and its fountains.

The beginning of the afternoon was dedicated to the preparation of the event co-organized between the members of the youth council and the action group 2 working on economic development in the Alpine region.  This event will be held at the end of June and will address the subject of winter tourism in a challenging time linked to climate change.

To end this day we took advantage of the good weather and the free public transport system for tourists, by going on the banks of Lake Mozart. These more informal moments are important for group cohesion and allow young people to discover the Alpine region on the ground.

Among the members of the youth council, some were already scheduled to leave for a long day of train travel through the Alps and a second portion was available because they remained in Salzburg in the following days to participate in the anniversary of the Interreg Alpine Space program.

With those who were available we visited the trails overlooking the city of Salzburg and we visited the castle park of Hellbrunn.

Week-end wrap !

It was a very important and useful weekend for the dynamics of the youth council, it allowed us to move forward on a certain number of projects and to strengthen the knowledge of the members.  We were also able to say goodbye and warmly thank those for whom it was the last event as a representative of the youth council after 2 years of mandate.  We have enormous gratitude for the work and commitment of these young people.

All the best to: Killian Foloppe, Michael Jung, Jeanne Caverzasio, Sandra Pasaricek, Niklas Graf, Cosima Rudigier, Killian Büchel, Anna Kühn and Tine Šteger.
