About the workshop
In recent years, the Alps have been affected by unprecedented weather extremes such as
heatwaves, heavy rains and storms that have triggered multiple natural hazard processes of
exceptional magnitude and caused severe impacts on the environment, humans and the economy.
There is scientific evidence that climate change will increase frequency and intensity of such events.
The unexpected magnitude of these extremes can cause compound impacts and cascading effects,
overstraining existing risk management capacities and resulting into complex, long-lasting or even
irreversible consequences.
The X-RISK-CC project invites you to an online transnational expert workshop to explore common challenges of Alpine territories, gaps in existing practices and policy frameworks for (climate) risk management, and corresponding needs for action. By participating in this workshop, you have the opportunity to contribute to shaping the final project outputs, optimize their usability and relevance, and to benefit from project findings for the work of your own transnational working bodies.
Language : The workshop will be held in English.
