Dealing with Disaster Risks – Risk Governance Approach

In the field of natural hazard management, a governance approach is necessary. To start the process, a report on the status quo of risk governance in the field of natural hazard management was carried out. In this report, existing national regulatory frameworks in hazard management, and mapped governance mechanisms that are already in place in the Alpine countries in a comparable manner, were analysed and good practices solutions presented, which led to recommendations.

The policy brief is based on the final report. It contains the key messages, explains terms, definitions and concepts, highlights the role of stakeholders, presents existing good practice examples from all Alpine countries, and puts forward strategic recommendations for further action.
