AG4 Project Labelling

Beginning in 2017, the Action Group 4 started to develop a specific project evaluation methodology with the objective of identifying individual projects that foster sustainable mobility solutions in the Alpine Region, contributing to the EUSALP objectives. In order to develop such methodology, a specific task force was created, whose proposals were then discussed and adopted by the AG4. Hence, the overall aim of the labelling is to demonstrate the macro regional dimension and benefit of transport projects to boost their implementation by promoting the need for co-funding from EU and national levels. After completing the project methodology by the task force and approval by the members of the AG4, the first call for project submissions opened in 2020. During the first call, 29 projects with a remarkable wide variation in terms of project types and geographical distribution were submitted and fourteen were labelled. In 2021, the 2^nd EUSALP project Call was implemented with 6 labelled projects and altogether 16 project submissions.

All these projects received a Letter of Recommendation, signed by the AG4 Co-Leaders EGTC European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino and Région Sud Provence-Alpes- Conte d´Azur. The Letter of Recommendation (see annex) highlights the value of the respective projects for the fostering of sustainable mobility solutions in the Alpine Region from a macro-regional perspective and urges decision making authorities to support the implementation and to provide adequate financial support.

In 2022, on the basis of previous discussion among AG4 Members, the AG4 decided to revise the assessment methodology for Project Labelling in its substance with regards to the weighting of the environmental criteria and some procedural adjustments. As the minimum threshold of 10 projects by at least three different regions was not achieved, the 3^rd EUSALP Project Call will take place in 2025.

Finally, the labelled projects were integrated on the EUSALP Platform of Knowledge (PoK, link).
