X-RISK-CC

The Interreg Alpine Space Project X-RISK-CC, "How to adapt to changing weather eXtremes and associated compound RISKs in the context of Climate Change", aims to enhance adaptation capacities and resilience to extreme weather events in the Alpine region. These events, intensified by climate change, often result in complex, cascading impacts that challenge current risk management strategies.
To address these challenges, X-RISK-CC is structured around a three-phase approach:
- Learning: Identifying stress factors, gaps, and adaptation potentials in existing risk management practices by analysing recent representative events across six Alpine countries.
- Scenario Development: Generating a systemic understanding of current and future impacts of extreme events through scientific knowledge and co-developed projections.
- Solutions: Developing and disseminating strategies at local and transnational levels to effectively manage current and future compound risks associated with climate change.
The project, which started in 2022 and will finish at the end of 2025, involves 10 partners from 5 countries. The project focuses on five pilot areas, including cross-border regions, to help risk managers and policy makers tailoring risk management actions and developing transnational guidelines.
By fostering cross-border collaboration and integrating diverse expertise, X-RISK-CC seeks to improve risk management practices and adaptation strategies, thereby strengthening the resilience of Alpine territories to the increasing threats posed by climate change.
