Meeting topic:

The 22nd Action Group 4 Meeting was held online on February 7th from 9.00 to 13.00.

Regional Councillor for Mobility of the State of Tyrol, René Zumtobel, welcomed members and observers of the AG with a speech. He highlighted the political relevance of the topics defined in the work plan 2023-25 of AG 4.

Every member gave a brief overview on latest news and projects in the mobility and transport sector. Patrick Skoniezki drew attention to upcoming meetings and conferences that will be of interest. Carole Rageth used the opportunity to give an overview on the EUSALP Swiss Presidency 2023, defining the aim of the legislature to strengthen political relevance. To finalize the update loop, all meeting attendees were given an overview of the current EU affairs.

At this AG 4 meeting, Norbert Sedlacek from Henry Consult presented the results of a study on the development of the energy efficiency on transit freight transport on the Brenner corridor in Tyrol. The importance of the modal shift from road to rail was exemplified, as the conversion of drive technology alone will not significantly lower CO2  reductions.

EUSALP AG 4 Co-Lead also presented the proposal for the Work Plan 2023-25, stating the following five thematic areas (TA)

TA 1: Smart clean logistics and policy measures to support modal shift (multimodal and combined transport)

TA 2: Secondary railway infrastructure (local and regional transport links)

TA 3: Climate resilient road and rail infrastructure

TA 4: Smart and sustainable passenger transport (local, regional and cross-border mobility)

TA 5: Energy transition in the transport system

The 22nd Action Group 4 Meeting was closed with an update on the Alpine Convention and iMONITRAF!

The 23rd AG 4 meeting is planned to take place in Nice and Tende, France on the 23rd to 24th of May 2023.
