Action Group 2 - Economic development

The Alpine region is one of the most developed and richest areas in the world, but there are some issues, such as economic de-vitalization and climate change, that require cooperation.
One of the thematic priorities of Action Group 2 concerns Bio-economy, which is a new model for industry that makes use of renewable biological resources to produce industrial goods.
A second priority is related to the access to digitalization. How do we support the small and medium enterprises in keeping up with the digital transformation?
A third priority is how to successfully initiate tourism innovations, starting with Health Tourism.  With its exceptional nature, cultural heritage, healthy climate and long tradition of tourism, the Alpine region is well placed to become a point of reference in the debate on healthy living. Action Group 2 aims to position the Alps as a global healing environment and an attractive health-promoting area. To achieve this goal, the EUSALP strategy should aim at a better use of Alpine resources and the development of Alpine health tourism value chains, in order to stimulate job creation and growth in remote Alpine areas.
The wood sector constitutes another priority for Action Group 2. Bio-economy and wood are two promising sectors where we can closely link research and realization.  Building with wood is a particularly good example to demonstrate the strengths of the Alpine region.
