Multifunctional Forest in the Alps : Reinforcing the Dialogue
The idea for this project was born at the EUSALP Annual Forum in Innsbruck in November 2018. The topic of forests and wood is addressed by the action groups from different angles: material resources, climate change and natural hazard mitigation factor, green infrastructure and recreational areas... The subject is cross-cutting and there is a growing fear, due to climate change, globalisation and loss of biodiversity, that forests and wood resources will be one of the next resource conflicts, comparable to the emerging conflicts over water use. This is why it appeared to be a priority to provide answers to anticipate potential conflicts and work on development potential by highlighting synergies and addressing divergent uses.
The project is funded under the ARPAF2 programme.
The 2021 Event in Aix-les-Bains (France)
The AURA Region and the forest communities of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes were organising an event on the European project Rediafor. Conflicts arise in the Alps over the use of wood resources or forest uses. It is from this angle that Rediafor is interested in the multifunctionality of forests. The programme aims to identify the main types of conflict and to create spaces for dialogue.
The partners have also contributed to a call for local interest, focusing on wood energy and the economic, environmental and social impacts of mobilising this resource.

Initiating dialogue & conflict management training
REDIAFOR partners gathered forest experts at regional and transnational scales. Together they have shared cross-sectoral forest issues leading to possible conflicts, trying to better anticipate them.
Leading to their ability to manage such situation, REDIAFOR initiate training session (fr) provided by the Institut des Strategies Emergentes
1) introduction to the training session* (the initial frame of this training session, learn more about strategic facilitation, look at bavarian and Auvergne-rhone-alpes forest issues and conflicts)
2) Outputs of the training sessions* (program, methodological framework, synthesis report, summary of the active meeting seminar validated by the participants)
