Network for the Promotion of local Energy Management Systems (EMS)

Governance

Activity dates:
January 2018 to June 2019
Action’s description:

This platform will be set up as a policy decision-making tool to monitor, control and optimize the generation, transmission and final use of energy.

Current sustainable energy planning schemes implemented at the regional level can either be regulatory and/or voluntary depending on national and/or regional policies in place. Municipalities and cities in the EUSLAP have joined regional, national and European energy planning schemes ranging from the EEA network (Austrian E5 programme, Italian ComuneClima, Energie Stadt Schweiz), to ICLEI and the Covenant of Mayors and several EU level smart city initiatives as well as regional schemes like the Positive Energy Scheme (TEPOS) supported by the Rhône-Alpes Council. Within the frame of local energy planning activities, municipalities and cities have adopted local energy management systems as policy decision-making tools to monitor, to control and to optimize the generation, transmission and final use of energy.
