Rising energy prices are putting pressure on municipalities’ household calling for immediate and mid-term measures with the goal to safe energy through energy efficiency measures and the through the role-out of local renewable energy projects. The European energy crisis hits communities hard that have to find solutions to guarantee adequate supply for heat and electricity to run public buildings and infrastructure.
On October 10, 2022, the Energy Dialogue "Energy Crisis: Immediate Measures in Municipalities" took place at NOI Techpark in Bolzano/Bozen. The event was organized in the framework of the Italian EUSALP Presidency 2022 by the Agency for Energy South Tyrol-CasaClima, EUSALP Action Group 9 leader, in collaboration with the Association of Municipalities of South Tyrol and with the support of the Office for Energy and Climate Protection of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
The dialogue event was opened by Andreas Schatzer, President of the Association of Municipalities of South Tyrol, and Ulrich Santa, General Director of the Agency for Energy South Tyrol-KlimaHaus. After an overview of financial instruments in the field of energy efficiency improvement and renewable energies roll-out for municipalities in the autonomous province of Bolzano (Armin Gasser, Office of Energy and Climate Protection) and on a national level (Petra Recchia, Agency for Energy South Tyrol-KlimaHaus), mayors, representatives of municipal administrations, technicians and citizens discussed with Ulrich Klammsteiner and Mariadonata Bancher (both Agency for Energy South Tyrol-KlimaHaus) immediate measures to save energy and their implementation on the local level. The contributions to the discussion will be summarized in a catalog of energy-saving tips that will be made available to all interested municipalities, stakeholders and citizens.
