The official EUSALP AG6 Kick-off conference took place on June 28-29, 2016 in Klagenfurt, Carinthia. Representatives of ministries and regional governments met civil society and research experts to discuss Action Group 6 “Preserve and valorize natural resources, including water and cultural resources”. The Alpine Convention and the Land of Carinthia, which together are co-leaders of Action Group 6, presented the EUSALP strategy and the plans for action for the next three years. Core elements of the conference were the interactive discussions of the Action Group’s three main sub-topics: Spatial development and soil conservation, future oriented farming and forestry and integrated and sustainable water management. Thanks to the fruitful discussions and the active exchange among the stakeholders new ideas and proposals related to the three main sub-topics were developed. The valuable outputs of the discussion will integrated into the AG6 work program, which will be elaborated by the Action Group leaders together with the stakeholders.
